Right, then...

Facing future BMW ownership (2000 Z3) , I’m looking at getting an OBDII/ABS/SRS reader and considering a Foxwell 510. I’m in completely new territory so pardon the question, but should this work on any vehicle with OBDII? Asking as I want to be able to use it in our other cars (Toyota, Subaru) as well. I do understand that I’ll need a 16 to 20 pin adapter for the BMW.

Thanks!

looks fairly solid, it can do C, B, and U codes as well as P codes.  What’s the adapter for?  Does BMW put sub-networks on a different diagnostic connector?

Something I picked up on ZRoadster.org...I guess there’s another port in the engine compartment for some BMW specific codes? Then again, I’m told that may need a BMW specific computer (ETA:  Or a Peake tool)  for the 20 pin codes...but for $10 not sure getting the adapter would hurt.
